Negligent driving can have disastrous consequences. For proof of that fact, all you need to do is pick up a newspaper anywhere in the country. Distracted driving, such as texting while driving, and impaired driving, such as driving while intoxicated, lead to a growing number of wrecks each year. Unfortunately, Maryland is no exception to the rule, and we see our share of tragic accidents, too.
Below, you’ll find a brief summary of three recent car wrecks. If you find yourself among those who are injured by negligent drivers, we are here to help you.

1. Car Crashes Through Baltimore Store
In downtown Baltimore, two vehicles collided with so much force that one of them was pushed into a nearby pharmacy. The accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. and injured multiple store patrons. When the car crashed through the storefront, three patrons were struck and suffered shoulder, neck and back injuries.
Witnesses say that the front of the store was severely damaged and the flower beds in front were ruined. The police are investigating who was at fault. Whichever driver is cited could face personal-injury lawsuits from the injured store patrons.
2. Another Highway Construction Worker Hit On Interstate
In the past 12 months, four construction workers have been killed while working along Maryland highways. Recently, CBS Local News reported that a fifth worker was struck. John Kahl was clearing trees and branches from the side of the interstate when a truck swerved from the highway and stuck him.
The Maryland State Police say that they are investigating the accident, but a preliminary report could find no reason why the truck swerved from the lane, possibly indicating that the driver was texting or otherwise distracted when the incident occurred.
3. Bus Accident Leaves 11 People Injured, In The Hospital
My Eastern Shore MD reports that a group of Benedictine School students were nearly back to their school when their bus was rear ended. Eleven of the students were seriously hurt and taken to three separate local-area hospitals for treatment.
None of the students sustained life-threatening injuries, but the truck driver who rear ended the bus was taken to a Trauma Center in serious condition. All of the students have since been released.
After many car accidents with negligent drivers, victims are rebuffed by insurance companies and offered much less than they deserve. If you are having a difficult time negotiating with the insurance company, it can pay to speak with a personal-injury lawyer.
