A horrific tragedy happened yesterday morning in Queen Anne’s County involving three tractor-trailers. Three lives were lost plus a companion dog. The driver of the first tractor-trailer was driving on Route 404 on Maryland’s Eastern Shore when it crossed the center line, side-swiping a second rig and colliding with a third head-on. One of the trucks then burst into flames.
If you have been involved in a tractor-trailer accident, you are likely dealing with serious injuries. You may be facing a long stay in the hospital, costly surgeries, and physical therapy treatment. You will be paying a lot in medical bills and making less in income, since your injuries will most likely keep you out of work for some time. In addition, you might be facing expensive repairs to your car and other property that was damaged in the crash.
These are the more obvious damages, but there are some damages that are not quite as visible. Tractor-trailer collisions can be emotionally scarring. You may be suffering internally, replaying the accident over and over again in your mind.
You may be entitled to compensation for any and all of these damages. However, you are likely facing a tough battle when it comes to getting the compensation you deserve. There are many parties involved in your accident: the trucking company, their insurance company, the truck driver’s insurance company, and your insurance company. You need to be able to focus on your recovery instead of trying to juggle all of these things.
This is exactly what my colleagues and I can do for you. As personal injury attorneys in Silver Spring, Maryland, we can make sure that you get what you deserve—not just the bare minimum, which is what an insurance company is likely to offer you, if they offer you anything at all. I have seen too many people walk away from a serious accident with much less than they deserve. Don’t let this happen to you.
Driving on highways and roads is always a potentially dangerous endeavor. I believe the average American is involved in some form of vehicle collision once every 8.3 years. I can only assume the rate is much higher in Maryland given our condensed population, highly traveled roadways, and the increasingly aggressive nature of drivers. I truly hope that this tragic story gives drivers of the road pause and reflection the next time we get behind the wheel.
