Recent Baltimore Crashes Lead to Deaths and Serious Injuries

Saturday, October 10th, 2015 By

Baltimore has a relatively small number of motor vehicle accidents when compared to the rest of the United States. According to Maryland MVA, the state of Maryland has a five-year average of 580 fatal vehicle crashes per year, of which approximately 20 happen in the city of Baltimore. Nevertheless, thousands are left injured each year from serious accidents that take place throughout the state, and as a result, many victims face significant financial burdens associated with medical bills and lost wages.

High-School Students Die in Crash

The Baltimore Sun reports that two students have been killed in a car crash that took place in Kingsville. According to police, the two victims were 16-year-old students from Bel Air High School. Law enforcement was called to the scene, and they discovered a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse had collided with a tree. Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead on the scene by emergency workers. Their identities were not released.

A full investigation into the incident is currently underway. However, at this stage, it does not appear as if any other vehicles were involved. A homecoming dance was scheduled for the day following the deadly accident, and the school has made counselors available to students who are grieving.

One Dead in East Baltimore Crash

Just one week earlier, the Baltimore Sun reported that one person was killed in a car accident in the Pulaski Industrial Area. A full investigation into the accident has yet to be concluded; however, police believe that the vehicle left the road and flipped upside down. There were four passengers in the vehicle at the time, but the condition of the three survivors has yet to be released.

The accident came on a night of horrific crashes. Just a few miles further down the same road, a 53-year-old man flipped his vehicle on the highway. Baltimore County Firefighters responded to the scene, and the man had to be extricated from the overturned vehicle. He was taken to the nearby Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was treated for head, neck and back pain.

Police are still investigating the accident, and the man’s status has not been released. His injuries were not considered to be life threatening.
